TV Will Save the World
The article "TV Will Save the World," by Charles Kenny is a very interesting article that touches base with how TV is the next big thing in poorer countries. Kenny talks about how in 1995, 45% of the population of a poorer country had a TV and by 2005 it showed that more than 60% of the population had a TV. While it may look like it isn't that big of an improvement, but really it is. I feel that this a good thing to be happening to all the countries who some have never seen a TV before. This way when every household has a TV it will be a lot easier and more convenient to those who have never had a TV before to realize how important and helpful media really is. Most Americans have at least one television in their household and since TV has been invented technology has been getting more advanced each and every day it seems like. Kenny also talks about how TV has made those in poorer countries more intelligent. He says that within six months of individuals watching TV for the first time, they had noticed a small but significant improvement in their reading skills. While TV is associated with violence it is having a positive impact on the lives of billions world-wide.
